Postpartum Doula Care

After you welcome your baby, your postpartum period begins. Maybe you are already wondering how the transition will go? Getting support to help prepare for life after birth, in addition to in-person care once baby has arrived, can make all the difference.

When you choose to have a postpartum doula, it gives space for your WHOLE family to heal, bond, and have a smooth transition together.

However your baby comes out of your body, you will need to rest, heal, and be nurtured. Everything slows down after baby; it’s meant to, and we want to give space for all the members of your family to exhale and be together. The reality is dinner still needs to be made, bathrooms need to be cleaned, there’s more laundry than ever before, siblings need that one-on-one time, feeding support becomes necessary, you’ll need space to process your ever-changing emotions and mind, and simple daily activities can become harder to do.

We have heard it said that everyone wants to hold the baby, but who holds the birthing parent? At Doulas of Marquette, we take it a step further to ask, who holds the family? A postpartum doula does just that.

Intuitively, we observe and gently help or offer guidance. We affirm your choices, always encouraging you to connect to your inner wisdom. We know that YOU know your baby best.

Practically, you get to hand us lists of any and everything you need to be done. There’s no awkwardness or relationship dynamics to navigate; we are there to meet your family with care that is centered around what you need at that very moment.

“My doulas were both so gentle and loving to me and my baby, they always helped with housework, and would let me talk to them and express things when I just needed someone to lend an ear…they are forever family to me!”
